What services do you offer?

We guide small parties of walkers across sections of the Southern Upland Way to provide an intimate, unique insight into the beauty and splendour of Galloway, a largely undiscovered gem in the South-West of Scotland. Uncrowded and open with the right to roam means we can easily and informatively help you discover this beautiful region’s rich history and spacious, stunning landscapes. No queues! What better way to enjoy the benefits of exercise at your pace and breathe in clean, fresh air beneath some of the clearest skies in Europe? WOW moments are guaranteed with every Foot Luce experience!

How Fit Should I Be

Our mission is to take people of all fitness levels and ages out on day walks. The routes are designed to offer a choice for all levels of experience and can be tailored even more to your individual needs if you are a solo customer. Our tour routes cover a range of between 2 and 17 miles in a day, each with their own range of variety, surprises and challenges. Choose from either Leisurely / Relaxed OR Intermediate / Adventurous to suit your fitness level and remember that we’ll be with you every step of the way! We’re always happy to discuss any advance personal requirements to provide maximum enjoyment throughout your day.

WHAT DO YOUR TOURS COST?

Our fees range from £100 to £175 per day, which includes up to 3 people. Each tour is itemised and includes entry fees (where applicable). Please see our Terms & Conditions pages for further information.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

A sense of adventure and delight in being out in the great outdoors! You will need a suitable pair of walking boots as the ground can be wet underfoot dependent on the time of year and you’ll also be walking off track at times and encountering more challenging terrain. Bring a day pack containing waterproofs and a warm layer (this is Scotland after all); a hat, sunscreen, snacks, lunch and a refillable water bottle. We are available to talk you through all of these requirements in more detail when you are in the process of booking your tour. Please feel free to ask questions at any time, we’re here to help!

LICENCES AND INSURANCES

Your welcoming guides are experienced in all aspects of the hills and moorland that you will be traversing on foot. Ken and Leah are regular maintenance volunteers on the Southern Upland Way with an intimate knowledge of the local terrain, history and weather conditions. They are both former Scouts experienced in adventurous activities, Mountaineering Scotland members, qualified First Aiders and proud partners of the South Ayrshire and Galloway Biosphere Project. Ken is a registered Biosphere guide,trained in Hills Skills and dedicated “Leave No Trace” Practitioner.

WHO ARE THE ‘LADIES OF LUCE’?

Ken and Leah regularly interchange as guides. One will be with you every step of the way out on the trails, with the other supporting with transfers between your accommodation at both ends of your walking day and lunch in between. The additional ‘Ladies of Luce’ option offers a female-only tailored package for 1-3 women. This option is hosted specifically by Leah for guests to enjoy their day out in feminine company only, if preferred.
